The Arab League calls for stopping the suffering of the Palestinian people – the seventh day

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States called on the international community to stop the suffering of the Palestinian people due to the violation of its legitimate rights by Israel, the existing force of the occupation, and to take the necessary steps to respect the enjoyment of the right to food and its protection, and facilitate access to food and provide the necessary assistance and not to use food as a tool to exercise political and economic pressure.

This came in a statement issued by the General Secretariat today, Sunday, on the occasion of the celebration of the Arab Day for Human Rights, which is being revived this year (2025) under the slogan “The Right to Food” as an inherent human rights and the necessity of a precious life, and a fundamental element of human dignity.

The General Secretariat stated that the Israeli occupation forces not only prevent and restrict the flow of humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian people, but also works to destroy the diet of the Palestinians and launch a systematic starvation campaign against the Palestinian people, which is a war crime and a collective genocide for a defenseless people.

She added: “A number of international and regional instruments have given a special place for the right to food, as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Arab Charter for Human Rights stipulated that every person has the right to food, and countries must take the necessary measures in accordance with their capabilities to enforce this right, as well as providing basic food and pure drinking water for each individual.

And she continued: “And a realization of the League of Arab States for the importance of this right, it emphasizes the need to eliminate hunger and provide food security for all, and the university has given a special place for the right to food in text and practice, where strategies and work programs have been enacted, most notably” Arab Food Security Strategy “and” Arab Program for Sustainability of Food Security “as partnerships with specialized international and regional organizations have been held, and training programs and building capabilities of competencies were established in The agriculture sector in the Arab world by Arab organizations specialized in the field.

She pointed out that the celebration of the Arab Day of Human Rights this year comes to find ourselves again in front of a painful reality for the Palestinians who lost every way of natural living, due to a brutal war waged by the Israeli occupation forces and a systematic liquidation plan with the support of a major global force to displace the people after sabotaging the land and swallowing it, which is rejected by an Arab and international consensus, and is clearly contradicting the laws and international treaties.

She stressed that the implementation of human rights purposes, including the right to the right to food, remains subject to the concerted efforts between countries, the enhancement of contracting partnerships between international and regional organizations, and a commitment to follow up the implementation of development projects to achieve sustainable development goals 2030.
