Axius: The American air strikes on Yemen may last for days or weeks – the seventh day

A correspondent of the “Axios” website, quoting an American official, said that the US air strikes on Yemen will not be for once, indicating that the attacks against the Houthis may continue for days or weeks.

“A US official told me that Saturday’s strikes were not a single blow, but rather the beginning of a series of continuous American strikes against the Houthis, which is expected to continue for days or perhaps even weeks,” said Rafid, a journalist for the American Axios website in his account on the “X” platform.

Earlier on Saturday evening, US President Donald Trump announced that he had issued orders to the American army to launch “decisive and strong” military operations against the Houthi group in Yemen.

In an official statement, Trump accused the Houthi group of carrying out “attacks and piracy operations against American ships and aircraft in the region,” describing the response of his predecessor Joe Biden to the Houthis’ threats to be “compassionately weak,” which allowed the Houthis to continue their attacks without deterrence.

He added that “the Houthis caused the crushing movement in one of the most important global water corridors, which negatively affected international trade and violated the principle of freedom of navigation on which global economies depend on,” stressing that the United States will not tolerate the response to their attacks, and that it will use “an overwhelming and fatal power to achieve its goals.”
