White House: The Houthis have targeted American warships 174 times since 2023 – the seventh day

The White House said that US President Donald Trump stands in the face of “terrorism” to protect international trade, noting that his administration is taking measures to end what he described as the Houthi threat to American economic and national security.

He added that the Houthis attacked American individuals abroad and threatened Washington’s allies in the region, stressing that any “terrorist force” will not prevent American commercial and naval ships from moving freely in global waterways, according to the statement.

The White House indicated that the Houthi attacks on maritime shipping since 2023 have negatively affected the American economic security and global trade, explaining that the number of commercial ships in the Red Sea decreased from 25 thousand annually to about 10 thousand.

He stated that the Houthi attacks have caused the diverting a course of about 60% of ships to Africa instead of crossing the Red Sea, and they also attacked American warships 174 times and commercial ships 145 times since 2023.
