The French President receives his Lebanese counterpart on March 28 – the seventh day

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Friday that he will receive his Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun in Paris on March 28.

The announcement came in a post on the X platform in which the French President touched on the content of a phone conversation that took place between him and the Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, congratulating him “on the work he performs with the government to strengthen the unity, security and stability of Lebanon.”

“We discussed the prospects for the reconstruction and the reforms it requires. This work is necessary for Lebanon and the entire region,” Macron said.

“France’s commitment to Lebanon is still complete, in order to recover and for its sovereignty,” he added.

Macron visited Beirut on January 17, just nine days after the former Lebanese army commander assumed the presidency. Four days, Salam was appointed prime minister, in an indication of the breakthrough in the political situation in Lebanon, about two years after the vacancy of the presidency.

Macron had announced his intention to hold an international conference to rebuild Lebanon after the war between Israel and Hezbollah loyal to Iran, which stopped on November 27, after a ceasefire agreement entered into force.
