“Ocha” warns against increasing the demolition of buildings owned by the Palestinians in the West Bank – the seventh day

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned of the escalation of settlers in some areas of the West Bank, causing human losses and damage to property and exposes societies at the risk of displacement.

The office indicated – in its daily report, reported by the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) – that two families were displaced in the Nablus area, between them a baby and a young child, after settling settlers in their home.

The office said that over the past two years, the Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has documented the displacement of more than 2000 Palestinians throughout the West Bank due to the escalation of settlers ’violence and restrictions imposed on mobility and access.

In the northern West Bank, the occupation aggression entered its eighth week, where the Palestinians are still giving up, and last week, the Israeli occupation forces raided at least 10 mosques throughout the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

In Jenin, since Monday, the aggression of the occupation has been intensified, as more than 500 people were displaced from three neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city, according to the municipality.
The United Nations and its partners warned of the increased food insecurity, as the occupation’s aggression, displacement, and restrictions on the movement limit the movement to reach food.

In this context, the World Food Program said that it supports more than 190,000 people with a monthly cash voucher, and also provided one -time help to thousands of the most in need.

“Ocha” said that the restrictions imposed by the occupation authorities still prevent thousands of Palestinian worshipers from reaching the holy places, for the second Friday of Ramadan.

He explained: “For the second week, the teams monitored the movement of people through checkpoints to determine the risks of potential protection and possible measures for Palestinians who seek to cross, while paying special attention to the most vulnerable groups, such as children, pregnant women and the elderly, where the employees noted that the number of people who crossed less compared to last year.”

The office announced that “he noticed a sharp increase in the demolition of buildings owned by Palestinians in the West Bank during the past week and half, as the number of buildings that were demolished during the first ten days of Ramadan this year exceeded the total number of buildings that were demolished throughout Ramadan in 2024.”
