Qatar expressed its welcome to the President of Syria’s approval of the constitutional declaration, hoping that this important historical step will be a solid basis for the regulation of the transitional period and the construction of the state of institutions, justice and freedoms that the brotherly Syrian people aspire to. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that what is included in the constitutional declaration, especially the principle of separation of powers and the formation of a committee to formulate a permanent constitution and achieve transitional justice, protect the freedoms and rights of all Syrians and adhere to the unity of the land and the people, is a starting point towards building the country on new foundations, and stressed in this context the necessity of solidarity locally, regionally and internationally to enhance the advancement and stability in Syria.
The Ministry renewed the full support of the State of Qatar for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and the aspirations of its brotherly people in freedom, development and prosperity.
