The Israeli newspaper Haaretz published an opinion article for a high -ranking officer in a combat unit of the Israeli regular army, in which he touched on the phenomenon of using the Palestinians as human shields during the combat operations in the Gaza Strip, as he described it as a crime and said that it is more prevalent than what is narrated from the general Israelis.
The officer – who asked not to be named – criticized the opening of the Israeli military police to investigate 6 files on these suspicions, and said that the Palestinians are used as human shields at least 6 times daily.
He added that if the military police wanted to investigate, there are at least 2190 investigations, indicating that they only want to convince ourselves and the world that we are conducting investigations, so I found some of the scapegoators, and blame them in the whole case.
The officer said that he fought in Gaza for a period of 9 months, and that he saw a good number of new procedures there, and one of the worst of these measures is “mosquitoes” where innocent Palestinians are forced to enter the homes in Gaza and examine them accurately, that is, to ensure that there are no terrorists or explosives in it, as he put it.
He added that several names were launched on this procedure, including “Al -Shawish”, “slaves” and “platforms”.
He emphasized that he discovered the use of innocent Palestinians as human shields since December 2023, about two months after the start of the ground process before the decrease in the ulcers of police dogs used in the Aqucts unit, which has become an excuse for the use of human shields.
The officer added that Haaretz revealed last August, quoting a source saying that the chief of staff and the commander of the Southern Command were aware of this procedure that is still followed, considering that it is an operational necessity due to the speed in implementing the task compared to the activation of police dogs and exploratory drones.
