The emergency room south of the belt in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, revealed a significant deterioration of the humanitarian and security conditions in the neighborhoods of southern Khartoum, noting that there is a severe shortage of medicines, which prompted dozens of patients to resort to the use of herbs as a substitute for medicines.
An official statement said, “The region is witnessing deteriorating humanitarian conditions that exacerbate day by day, as the residents suffer from a suffocating health crisis, serious security escaping, and a deterioration in livelihoods, which requires an urgent intervention to save lives and reduce the suffering of citizens.”
The statement revealed that health care stopped after the only hospital was discharged from the service, which is the “Bashaer” hospital, stressing that most clinics were closed due to looting and sabotage, which deprived thousands of patients from receiving the necessary treatment.
The Doctors Without Borders Organization announced the suspension of its activities in the “Bashaer” hospital, which is the only medical facility that was working in the south of Al -Hizam, in protest against the increasing violations committed by armed groups inside the hospital and endangering the lives of patients and health cadres.
The statement pointed out that the acute shortage of basic drugs, such as insulin and pressure medications, endangered the lives of people with chronic diseases to real risk, which forced some citizens to resort to the use of alternative medicine, and to rely on herbs for treatment.
The statement emphasized the spread of medicine trade on the black market at exorbitant prices, which made obtaining treatment impossible, especially in the event of liquidity.
