The Arab League launches the ninth edition of the Arab Media Excellence Award – the seventh day

The General Secretariat of the Arab League is organizing the “Media and Communication Sector”, the ninth edition of the Arab Media Excellence Award under the slogan “Arab Youth and New Media”. The award includes 4 categories: television works, radio works, journalism, and digital media. This award is organized under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, and under the auspices of the State of Kuwait, with the aim of highlighting the distinguished media models in the Arab world.

In this regard, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi – Assistant Secretary -General, Head of the Media and Communication Sector stressed the importance of participating in this session as it discusses a topic that directly affects the youth category, after the new media became one of the most important features of modernity in our Arab societies, as it is no longer possible to dispense with social media in public life, especially the youth category, which is the most used category of these means and technologies.

He added that the field of this session sheds light on the role that social media can play to educate young people about societal issues and support comprehensive development, preserve the national and cultural identity, and enhance the spirit of leadership and innovation, as well as their influential role in making meaningful and meaningful media content in the service of societal issues, noting that the Council of Information Ministers has given special importance to the issue of spreading false and misleading news, and that the council’s structures are in the process of preparing An Arab strategy for media and information education is expected to be presented to the Council of Arab Information Ministers in its next session in Baghdad.

It is worth noting that the Arab Media Excellence Award is an award of material value targeting the approved governmental and private media and media institutions, and Arab organizations and federations that have an observer as an observer with the aforementioned council, and falls within his decision No. (534) issued by the (53) session that was held in Rabat on 21/6/2023, related to encouraging quality and professional media excellence and enhancing the capabilities of Arab media professionals, Note that the operative of this decision urges member states to take into account the achievement of societal diversity in the nominations submitted to the award, and the involvement of youth.

The General Secretariat (the media and communication sector) continues to receive the nominations until the date of 30/20/2025, provided that the following conditions are restricted: that the entity or candidate be Arabic, and that the work language be the Arabic language, and that it will not be awarded a previous prize from any other party, and that it has been published or broadcast through one of the Arab media institutions or websites, provided that the nominations are distanced from interference in the internal affairs of the member states, or the provision of Political differences, or offending any of the components of society or prevailing beliefs, and are compatible with the rules and ethics of journalistic work in accordance with the Arab media charter.
