UNICEF: 90% of Gaza population is unable to obtain water – the seventh day

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned that the sharp shortage of water in the Gaza Strip has reached critical levels, as only one in 10 people can currently reach safe drinking water, which is 90% of the population.

The UNICEF official in Gaza, Rosalia Paulin – said, according to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) – that 600,000 people have regained drinking water last November, but were cut off from them again.

United Nations agencies estimate that 1.8 million people, more than half of them children, urgently need water, sanitation and health assistance, stressing that the situation has deteriorated more after the decision to cut off electricity from the sector, which led to the disruption of biomedia.
