The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) warned on Monday that the sharp shortage of water in the Gaza Strip has reached critical levels, as only one in 10 people currently can reach safe drinking water.
Rosalia Paulin, an “UNICEF” official in Gaza, reported that 600,000 people have regained drinking water in November 2024, but were cut off from them again.

“It is really necessary for thousands of families and children to restore water,” said Rosalia Paulin.
United Nations agencies estimate that 1.8 million people – more than half of them children – urgently need water, sanitation and health assistance.
The situation deteriorated further after Israel’s decision, yesterday, Sunday, to cut electricity from the Strip, which resulted in the disruption of vital water desalination.
At the same time, the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator on the occupied Palestinian land, Muhannad Hadi, called for the resumption of life -saving aid “immediately”, as any other delay will affect the progress made during the ceasefire.
