Aboul Gheit confirms his appreciation for European support for the Arab plan in Gaza – the seventh day

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary -General of the League of Arab States, today, Monday, received a phone call from Mrs. Kaya Calas, the supreme representative of security policy and foreign affairs of the European Union.

The Minister of Jamal Rushdie, a spokesman for the Secretary -General, explained that during the call, the two parties discussed the regional situation, as well as the continued strengthening of bilateral relations between the two organizations and between the Arab world and the European Union at all levels.

The spokesman added that the Secretary -General expressed his appreciation for the importance of European support for the Arab plan for early recovery and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which was adopted at the emergency Arab summit in Cairo, stressing the importance of providing the necessary conditions to ensure its implementation as required in the earliest time. Aboul Gheit stressed the need to maintain and install the ceasefire, implement its stages, and ensure that Israel allows the entry of humanitarian aid to confront the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.

The spokesman stated that Callas expressed to the Secretary -General the commitment of the European Union to support the Palestinian people, stressing that the two -state solution is the best solution to the conflict, as it stressed the position of the European Union and the members of the members refusing to displace the Palestinians from their lands.

The spokesman said that the two parties also dealt with the latest developments in Syria, especially in light of the clashes in some governorates of the Syrian coast in the past days, where the Secretary -General stressed the Arab League standing alongside the Syrian people and its rejection of any attempts aimed at destabilizing Syria, as well as for the useful use of weapons and sectarian killing.
