The African Union calls on the parties in South Sudan to control oneself and hold the perpetrators of violence – the seventh day

The outgoing of the outgoing African Union Commission, Mr. Musa Faki Mohamed, expressed his deep concern about the escalation of tensions and clashes in Nasser Province in the state of Upper Nile in the state of South Sudan, which included a deadly attack on a United Nations helicopter, violence in the western tropical and west of Bahr al -Ghazal, all of which threaten the peace process.

The Chairman of the Commission strongly condemned this violent escalation, called on all parties to control the maximum extent, and called on the authorities to fully hold the perpetrators of violence and take rapid measures to protect citizens, according to an official statement from the African Union.

He called on the head of the Commission to immediately stop the hostilities, adhere to the ceasefire arrangements, and urged the parties to engage urgently in a national dialogue.
In this regard, the African Union Commission is currently holding consultations with the authorities and the international government agency concerned with development and the owners of other interests on joint procedures to ensure calming the situation.

The President of the Commission again emphasized the invitation that the African Union has long sent to the parties in South Sudan to the full implementation of the updated peace agreement, stressing the commitment of the African Union to support this basic national process on which the future of South Sudan relies on peaceful coexistence, unity and collective responsibility.
