The United Nations calls for opening equal opportunities for women and girls for the benefit of everyone – the seventh day

UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres confirmed that opening the doors of equal opportunities for women and girls is in the interest of everyone.

In his message on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the Secretary -General pointed out that societies where equality prevails are more prosperous and peaceful – and are prepared for sustainable development.

In his message distributed by the United Nations Media Center in Cairo, Guterres said that on this occasion, the occasion of the International Women’s Day, we celebrate thirty years of progress and achievements that have been made since the Historic United Nations Conference in Beijing, the conference has made a change in women’s rights – as it was renewed by the confirmation of these rights as human rights. Since then, women and girls have shattered the barriers, raised the challenge in the face of stereotypes, and demanded their place that is worthy of them.

Guterres called to be realistic and realize the challenge for its reality. Between rejection and retreat, human rights remain due to women under threat. Old atrocities – from violence, discrimination, economic inequality – are still raging societies.

He warned that the latest forms of threats, such as biased algorithms, involve inequality in designing Internet spaces, opening new areas of harassment and abuse. Instead of generalizing equality in rights, we are witnessing a generalization of women’s hostility.

He stressed that it is our duty to resist these condemnation aspects, and to continue to work to achieve equal opportunities for women and girls.

He said that we need to take the necessary measures to provide the financing that enables the two countries to invest in equality – and to give priority to these investments and to take the necessary measures to provide equal opportunities to obtain decent work, fill the gap in wages, and address the challenges related to work in the field of care, and to take the necessary measures to enhance the laws and implement them in order to end all forms of violence against women And girls. And to take the necessary measures to ensure full participation of women in decision -making operations, including in building peace. And to take the necessary measures to remove obstacles that face women and girls in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
